Deanna L. Bower

February 4, 1940 — July 31, 2021

   Deanna L. Bower, 81, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, July 31, 2021 at a Sioux City hospital.

   Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday, August 5, 2021 at First United Methodist Church in Sioux City.  Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery.  The family will greet friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.

   Deanna, the daughter of Wilford “Mac” and Helen “Maxine” (Miller) McMeekin, was born February 4, 1940 in Sioux City.  She grew up in Sioux City and moved to Los Angeles, CA with her parents in her young teens.  She graduated from high school in California then moved back to Sioux City.

   Deanna married Billy W. Bower in September 1961 and this union was blessed with two sons.  Deanna worked her entire life as a bookkeeper.  She worked many years at RW Rice Company and retired from WJ Company.

   Deanna loved camping near Springfield, SD and Lake Francis Case.  She enjoyed crafts and wintering in Desert Hot Springs, CA.  Throughout the years, she volunteered with several organizations and will be remembered for her genuine concern for other people.  Above all, she adored her grandchildren.

   Deanna was an active member of First United Methodist Church in Sioux City.

   She is survived by her two sons: Barry (Julie) Bower of Sioux City and Mark (Michelle) Bower of Hornick, IA; four grandchildren: Jennifer (Skyler) Stilwell, Breanne Bower, Madison (Chris) Zeller and Marshall Bower; five great grandchildren; and her companion dog Teddy.

   She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Billy on November 5, 2010; and one sister Ramona.
