Delmar C. Brennan, 91, of Ponca, NE passed away at a Lincoln, NE hospital on Friday, December 14, 2012.Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Ponca, NE with Father David Liewer officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Newcastle, NE with military rites conducted by the Ponca American Legion Chapelle Post #117. Visitation will begin at the church at 5:00 P.M. on Monday, December 17, 2012, with the family present at 6:00 P.M. and a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. Arrangements are under the direction of Mohr Funeral Home in Ponca, NE.Delmar was born on February 17, 1921 in Newcastle, NE, the son of Joseph and Mary Frances "Daisy" (Pettit) Brennan. He graduated from Ponca High School in 1939. Delmar served in the U.S. Army Air Corp from 1942 through 1945. He farmed in the Newcastle and Ponca areas all his life.He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Ponca, the Knights of Columbus, Ponca American Legion Chapelle Post #117, and served on the Ponca Township Board for many years.He enjoyed hunting, fishing and drinking coffee with friends.Survivors include one brother-in-law, Bill Walsh of Hubbard, NE; and many nieces and nephews.Delmar was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Mary Frances "Daisy" Brennan; brothers, Joe, John and Maurice Brennan; sisters, Frances Millard, Lucy Mieto, Ida Brennan, Rosalie Groover, Madonna Walsh and Esther Brennan.
