Dennis Harold Reitz, 75, of Sioux City passed away Sunday, October 31, 2021 at his residence.
Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, November 5, 2021 at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Visitation with the family present will be held one hour prior at the funeral home. Online condolences may be given at www.meyerbroschapels.com.
Dennis was born February 4, 1946 in Independence, Iowa. He graduated from Kentland High School in Kentland, IN in 1964. Dennis married Ronda Kluender on October 22, 1966 in Sioux City. The couple just celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary.
Dennis worked for 44 years in the meat packing industry working for Swifts, Armour, Iowa Meat and retired from John Morrell in 2009.
Dennis was an avid Craig’s List scam blocker, enjoyed fishing with his kids and grandkids, buying and selling guns, and cooking; with his retirement hobby being finding new recipes to try. His family will never forget the world-famous chicken noodle soup and Dennis’s own vocabulary: worsh, robutts, and blowed in place of blew. Dennis took 1st place in a 4-Man Best Ball Team on the Doral Golf Course in Miami, Florida. With just the mention of needing a vehicle, Dennis would make it his mission to find the perfect vehicle for anyone. He didn’t care so much about the vehicle; it was the thrill of the hunt and the negotiations. You would never see Dennis driving a dirty truck, and you were always reminded to never drag your shoes across the threshold of his truck. Along with his perfect vehicles, Dennis was very proud of his perfect, beautiful yard with his beloved gazing balls and yard frogs.
Dennis is survived by his wife Ronda Reitz; son Mark Reitz (Mabel Reitz) and granddaughter Mia Reitz; daughter Brandie Deignan (Forever his Tooter) and husband Tim and grandchildren Emily Deignan and Kellen Deignan (Always his little buddy); grandson Michael Martinez; special nephew Jake Black; Sister Diana Counter; Roanne (Ray) Porter, Ruth (Wayne) Smith, Roger (Sandy) Kluender, RomaLee Johnson, Rosemary (Rick) Alter, Rola Jean (Richard) Sowienski, and Randy (Gum) Kluender; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother Elaine Reitz and brother-in-law Earl “Chooch” Counter.
