Dennis E."Denny" Stilwell

Dennis E. “Denny” Stilwell, 65 of Sioux City, passed away on Sunday, November 28, 2021 at his home, comforted by family.  A Celebration of Life will be at Riverbend Townhome Community Room, 349 Sergeant Square Drive, Sergeant Bluff, Iowa 51054, from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 4, 2021.  Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel has assisted the family.  Memorials may be offered in Denny’s name to Riverbend Townhomes Office: Stilwell family, 349 Sergeant Square Drive, Sergeant Bluff, Iowa 51054.

Denny was born on April 6, 1956 in Sioux City, Iowa to Howard and Fern (Ellison) Stilwell. He married Joanne L. Huisenga on March 18, 1977 in Sioux City, and to this union, three children were born.  The family lived in Fremont, California, Dickenson, North Dakota, but settled again in Sioux City, where Denny worked for Wilson Trailer from 1999 until his retirement in 2018. 

Denny enjoyed hunting, fishing, cooking, spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, and watching the San Francisco 49ers and Giants.

Denny is survived by his three children Stacie (Ryan) Messmer of Surprise, Arizona, Cassie (Ashton) Lee of Salix, Iowa, and Ryan Stilwell of Sioux City, Iowa; brothers Lee Stilwell of Fremont, California and Loren Stilwell of Fort Dodge, Iowa; step-mother Val Stilwell of Sioux City, Iowa; and eight grandchildren Rya, Steja, Daceson, Kylinn, Carson, Aiden, Aubrey, and Ella.

Denny was preceded in death by his parents, and wife Joanne on November 26, 2018.
