Donald David "Don" Saeger

Donald David “Don” Saeger, 79 of South Sioux City, Nebraska passed away on Monday, September 11, 2023 at a local hospital, comforted by family.  Abiding by his wishes, there will be a small, private celebration of his life with family at a later date.  Mohr & Becker-Hunt Funeral Home has assisted the family with arrangements.

Don was born on October 4, 1943 in Albion, Nebraska to Roland A. and Marie (Nelson) Saeger.  The family lived in the Albion area until he was 6 years old, Omaha until age 13, and settled in South Sioux City, Nebraska.  He received his education in South Sioux City graduating with the Class of 1962.  Don attended the Westmar College in LeMars, Iowa for one year.  On December 22, 1962, Don married Judith “Judy” Bauman at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Sioux City. 

Don earned a living in Medical Supply Sales.  He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, hunting, fishing, and attending grandchildren’s sporting events.  Don could often be found watching Husker sports, listening to Country music, cheering on the Yankees, or cracking a funny joke. 

Don is survived by his wife Judy of South Sioux City, Nebraska; son David Saeger of Ponca, Nebraska; daughter Mandy (James) Heeren of McCook Lake, South Dakota; grandchildren Madisyn, Colby, and Carson Heeren, Morgan and Tanner Wulf; and great-grandson Oliver Golden.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, five birth Siblings, daughter Andrea Wulf, and granddaughter Megan Baker.
