Donald Michael Hauge

Donald Michael Hauge, 87, passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones at his childhood home on Thursday, October 31, 2024.

A visitation celebrating Don’s life will be held from 4:00 - 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday, November 6, 2024 at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, located at 3220 Stone Park Blvd. in Sioux City, Iowa. 

Don was born on February 18, 1937 in Sioux City, Iowa to Alfred and Clara (Moen) Hauge. Don was a graduate of Central High School in Sioux City, Iowa. Shortly after graduation, he was drafted into the United States Army and proudly served as a Communications Specialist in Straubing, Germany. 

Don returned to Sioux City where he met and married his wife, Valetta Trudell and they were blessed with four wonderful children. Not only was he a loving husband, father, grandfather, he was also a proud, loving fan of his family and their friends. Don’s career path took him into sales throughout his life. He was a traveling salesman in the paint and floor-covering business in the four-state area. Don excelled at what he did and loved to form relationships, which was the key to his success. He worked many years at Hawkeye Carpet Company where he eventually retired. Don enjoyed watching and playing sports of all kinds. As he got older, golf became his preferred sport. He spent countless hours at the golf course, managing to make three hole-in-ones on three different courses throughout his playing years. 

Don will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Valetta; his son, Steven (Rhonda) Hauge; daughter, Stacey (Robert) Tanner; son, David (Amy) Hauge; grandchildren: Stephanie (Andrew) Jindra, Alec (Kate), Gavin, Carter, and Lauren; great-grandson, Luka; great-granddaughter, Tenley; sister, Karen Jensen; and cousins, nieces, and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Kristi Lynn; sister, Arlie Birney; and sister, Beverly Buttermore.
