Donald Alfred Kvam

Donald Alfred Kvam, 75, of Sioux City, IA, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, January 26, 2021. Due to the current coronavirus pandemic, services will be held at a later date.

Donald, the son of Roy and Vera Kvam, was born September 14, 1945, in Des Moines, IA. He attended West Junior and Central High School and graduated from Morningside College with a degree in English Literature.

He briefly worked in Omaha and then returned to Sioux City to assist his mother in running the family business, Kvam’s Displays & Teaching Supplies, which was started by his father. Donald took over the business in 1984 until its closing in 2003.

Donald was an avid golfer at Southern Hills Golf Course. He also enjoyed playing cards and pool with his friends and was part of a longstanding local fantasy football league that began in the late 1970s and continues to this day.

Surviving him are his son, Jonathan and his wife Arti of Sugar Land, TX; daughter, Emily of Sioux City, IA; brother Dr. Robert Kvam and his wife Barb of Muncie, IN; brother Dr. Richard Kvam and his wife Jan of Rochester, MN; sister Dr. Kathy Kvam of Oxford, MS; along with five nieces and one nephew.

He was preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Elizabeth Kvam of Sioux City, IA.
