Donna B. Lieber

   Donna B. Lieber, 87, of Sioux City passed away on Tuesday, September 14, 2021 at a Sioux City hospital.

   Services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 20, 2021 at Calvary Lutheran Church, 4400 Central Ave., in Sioux City.  Burial will be at Banner Township Cemetery, Lawton, IA.  The family will greet friends from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. Sunday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, 3220 Stone Park Blvd., in Sioux City with a Prayer Service at 4:00 p.m.  For those unable to attend, both services will be live streamed on the church’s website www.calvaryleeds.com.

   Donna, the daughter of Luther M. and Helen E. (Morian) Edgington, was born November 25, 1933 in Walthill, NE.  She attended Walthill Public School then went to East High School in Sioux City for her junior year.  Donna returned to Walthill High School her senior year and graduated with the Class of 1951.  In October of 1951, she started working as a switchboard operator/supervisor at Northwestern Bell.  In 1953, Donna survived the Floyd River Flood in Sioux City.  

   In the fall of 1953, Donna met Wilbur Eugene Lieber at the Tomba Ballroom in Sioux City.  They were united in marriage on February 19, 1955 at Redeemer Lutheran Church and this union was blessed with five children.  In 1962, Donna left her job with the telephone company to raise her family on the family farm near Sioux City.  From 1990 to 2000, she worked at JCPenney in the catalog and credit department.

   Donna’s memberships included Calvary Lutheran Church, Ruth’s Circle at Calvary, and Willing Workers Neighborhood Club.  She enjoyed sewing, upholstery work, gardening, and canning.  Donna was an excellent cook and enjoyed making brownies and apple pies for her grandchildren.  In addition, she baked and decorated many cakes for different celebrations.  She also enjoyed going on several trips with Wilbur, hosting neighborhood card clubs, shopping for a good bargain, playing cards with family, and going every Friday to get her hair done.  Above all, she cherished her family.  She had a great memory and would acknowledge all of her family with birthday and holiday cards.

   Donna is survived by five children: Richard (Debbie) Lieber of Lawton, IA, Rodney (Jodi) Lieber of Dakota Dunes, SD, Ronda (Jeremy) Billerbeck of Howell, MI, Roger (Holly) Lieber of Lawton and Renee (Kory) Eyres of Lawton; 12 grandchildren: Dustin (Melissa) Lieber, Kayla Lieber, Alisha (Jeff) Jelken, Kyle (Haley) Lieber, Misty Lieber (Buddy Speulda), Shea (Kevin) Kondrat, Brandon (Itzel) Brown, Heidi (Nathan) Connelly, Kolter Lieber, Trevor Eyres, Allie Lieber and Rylee Eyres; six step grandchildren: Iris Margellos, Demi Margellos, Kaya Billerbeck, Keegan Billerbeck, Sam Billerbeck and Zach Rysavy; 16 great grandchildren: Adrian and Jadynn Lieber, Addy and Eli Lieber, Cooper and Dax Connelly, Milania, Kennton, and Mila Lieber, Aubrey and Autumn Jelken, Karson and Kennedy Kondrat, Halleigh and Trace Lieber, and Liam Speulda; and many other relatives and friends.

   She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 65 years, Wilbur E. Lieber; one grandson, Dylan Eugene Eyres; one great grandson, Isaac Connelly; and four siblings: Arlene, Ben, Don, and Roberta.
