Donna L. Lloyd

Donna Louise Lloyd, 85, of Sergeant Bluff passed away Sunday, November 14th 2021, surrounded by her family. Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 20^th 2021 at Smithland United Methodist Church, Smithland Iowa with Pastor Karen Handke officiating.  Burial will be in Little Sioux Township Cemetery in Smithland.   Visitation will be Friday, November 19^th, 2021 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with family present at 6:00 p.m. and a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel.  On-line condolences may be sent to www.meyerbroschapels.com.

 Donna was born July 29, 1936 in Springdale (Sioux City) Iowa to Franklin and Bertha (Janson) Carlson.  She lived in Sioux City and attended Central High School until meeting Paul Lloyd who she married on November 22, 1952.

They had three children, Mike (Cindy) Lloyd, Pat Lloyd, and Melissa (Lloyd) Frigge.  Donna was always a hard worker and started working at age 14 as a candy striper, and had several other jobs, after marriage she worked at Gerkins Windows.  Donna and Paul lived on an acreage in Sioux City before moving to a farm in rural Westfield Iowa in 1970.  Donna excelled as a farmer’s wife and raised her family with her strength, dedication and unconditional love, including being at times more like a mother than grandmother to her grandchildren. 

Donna will always be remembered for her heart of gold.  She devoted her life to her family and was always there for anybody.  She had a strong faith and never turned any one away with an open door and a home cooked meal.  She loved to read, cook and playing cards and games. She appreciated any time with her family.  She was a daughter, wife, mother and grandmother, but she was also a mentor, educator, cheerleader, confidant and best friend.  She was respected, admired, and adored by her kids, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include her three children, Mike (Cindy) Lloyd of Westfield, Pat Lloyd of LeMars, and Melissa (Lloyd) Frigge of Sergeant Bluff; grandchildren, Travis (Ruby) Lloyd, Eric Lloyd, Erica Lloyd and Kari Beth (Nick) Chappell, Amanda (Nick) Dittmer and Christina (Chris) Lloyd, Adam (Jennifer) Frigge, Danielle (Sam) Chambers and Joseph Frigge; Great-Grandchildren Jasper, Evan, Summer, Natalee, Elizabeth, Ivery, Evan, Brandon, Riley, Olivia, Noah, Paul, Harper, Lillian Louise, Robert and one on the way; brothers-in-law Stan Hind and Dennis Sieble; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, parent-in-laws Bob and Elsie Lloyd; sisters Shirley Ruser, Beverlye Hind and Terri Sieble, brothers-in-law Dean Ruser, Bob Lloyd, Harold Lloyd, Gary Lloyd, Gaylon Lloyd, sisters-in-law, Josie Lloyd, June Lloyd, Lady Lloyd, Hilda Lloyd, and infant Gertrude Lloyd; and a great-granddaughter Saphire Lloyd.
