Donna M. McArdle, 80, of South Sioux City, NE passed away on Sunday, February 16, 2014 at her residence.Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Thursday, February 20, 2014 at St. Michael's Catholic Church in South Sioux City, NE with Father Paul Albenesius officiating. Burial will be in Calvary at South Creek Cemetery in rural Ponca, NE. Visitation with the family present will begin at 5:00 P.M. on Wednesday, February 19, 2014, with a Rosary at 6:00 P.M. and Scriptural Wake Service at 7:00 P.M. at the Mohr Funeral Home in South Sioux City, NE.Donna was born on September 6, 1933 in Sioux City, IA, the daughter of John and Marguerite (Druger) Overman. She attended West Junior High School in Sioux City. Donna married Bernard McArdle in 1954 and moved to South Sioux City, NE. She stayed at home to raise her children, then started a career at the South Sioux City Middle School in the main kitchen. She then worked at E.N. Swett as a custodian. Donna also worked for Joe Kruse making tacos at The Huddle for four years, and after that, always enjoyed going for tacos on Thursday nights. Not ready to retire, she worked for her granddaughter, Jamie at McDonalds as the "Lobby Lady" until she had to retire due to poor health. Bernard passed away in 1984. Donna enjoyed the company of her special friend, Dave Gill for the past thirty years.Donna was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church for fifty-five years. She was also a member of the PTA at Lewis and Clark School.She enjoyed bowling of Friday nights with Mike and playing darts. She enjoyed many trips to the Black Hills with Mike and Dave, and going on bus trips with the girls from North Sioux. One of her favorite spots in the area was the Rock Grotto in West Bend, IA. Donna and Dave enjoyed visiting with friends at McDonalds most every day. She was known for her fish and chicken frying skills and family (Herb and John) would come from as far away as Martinsburg for dinner.Survivors include her very special friend, Dave Gill and their beloved dog, Dee Dee of South Sioux City, NE; son, Mike (Tammy) McArdle of Dakota City, NE; daughter, Ann (Brad) Jensen of South Sioux City, NE; sister, Bonnie Giesinger of South Sioux City, NE; grandchildren, Bill (Laura), Shaun and Dan McArdle of Sioux City, IA, Carrie (Mike) Matney and Matthew and Jamie Jensen of South Sioux City, NE, Chris Rouse and Paula Peebles of Elk River, MN; 7 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.Donna was preceded in death by her parents, John and Margaret Overman; husband, Bernard McArdle; son, Leroy Rouse; sisters Delores (Shorty) Worster, Marilyn (Howard) Crawford and LaVonne Elliott; infant brother, John; and brother-in-law, Leo Giesinger.Special thanks to Kim Johnson and Hospice of Siouxland for taking such wonderful care of our Mother.
