Donna Faye Troth, 89, of South Sioux City, NE, formerly of Allen, NE entered into eternal life Thursday, February 27th at Unity Point - St. Luke's Hospital.Funeral services will be at 10:30 A.M. on Monday, March 3, 2014 at the Mohr Funeral Home in South Sioux City, NE. Burial will be in Eastview Cemetery in rural Allen, NE. Visitation with the family present will be from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Sunday, March 2, 2014, with a time of sharing at 6:00 P.M. at the funeral Home.Donna was born on July 23, 1924 at Elgin, Nebraska, the daughter of Clarence and Edna Carter who farmed 10 miles west of Elgin. Donna had an older brother Dean and younger brother Dale. She attended 1st through 6th grades at the Park Center Country School and graduated from Elgin High School. She was a member of the Congregational Church at Park Center. She attended Wayne State College and received her teaching certificate, and received her first assignment at the Sunnyside Country School teaching 1st through 8th grades.Donna moved to San Francisco where her brother was stationed as a Marine, and worked at a defense plant making crystal pins for B29 Bomber radios. She later moved to Sioux City and worked as a dental assistant. She met Duane Troth, who farmed west of Allen, Nebraska and was married on April 1st, 1949. They had three children Gary, De Ann and Lori. Donna helped operate the family farm and was very active at First Lutheran Church in Allen. After losing Duane to cancer, Donna became very lonely, but Jesus spoke to her through the Holy Scriptures and told her; "You are not alone! I will never leave you or forsake you. I will be with you until the end of time." Her prayers were answered.Donna became the night manager at the Northern Hills Retirement Apartments until retiring at age 80. She had many friends and was always willing to help when needed. Donna wore an angel on her shoulder for years and always knew she had a guardian angel with her. She loved her children and her grandchildren with all of her heart. They are son, Gary and his wife, Laura of Dakota City and granddaughters Kelsey, and Nicole and her husband Mike, and great grandson Kaiser; daughter, De Ann and her husband, Bill Essay of Houston, Texas, and granddaughters Christy, Amanda, and Alison; and daughter, Lori and her husband, David Ross of Dakota City, grandson Reese and granddaughters, Haylee and Ashley(deceased). Donna will be missed.
