Donna G. Wanned, age 91, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 28, 2025, at the Grace Well Eventide Community in Denison, Iowa.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 11, 2025, at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel with Chaplain Owen Englin officiating. Visitation with the family will be one hour prior. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Born on November 13, 1933, in Unity, Saskatchewan, Canada, the daughter of William and Trudy (Latham) Barr, Donna lived a life full of warmth, love, and rich memories that she cherished with her family and friends.
Donna married James Wanned on August 9, 1951, in Seattle, Wash. He preceded her in death on March 18, 2005, in Sioux City. A devoted homemaker, Donna admired for her incredible cooking and baking skills; her kitchen was often filled with delightful aromas that welcomed family and friends alike. She had a passion for travel and camping, always seeking out new adventures and experiences. Her love for music shone through her extraordinary singing, which could fill a room with joy. As a proud member of the Red Hat Society, Donna embraced life with a spirited enthusiasm, forming lasting friendships and bringing smiles to all those around her.
Throughout her life, Donna's greatest pride was her family, where her legacy shines brightly. She is survived by her beloved daughter, Barbara Jean (Tom) Wissing of Rogers, Ark.; and son, Jimmy Wanned of Sioux City. A source of endless pride, she leaves behind 11 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and 12 great-great-grandchildren, who will carry forward her love and teachings in their hearts. Donna is also survived by her brother-in-law: Roger Wanned; and her nephews, Gary (Cathie) Barr and Billy (Teresa) Barr.
She is preceded in death by her parents, William and Trudy Barr; loving husband, James Wanned; her daughters, Joy Lynn Whitenack and Alonna Kay Schade; her granddaughter, Alicia Marie Folkers; in-laws, Howard and Vivian Wanned; a brother, Garth Barr; and sisters, Helen and Barbara Barr.
Memorial Donations may be given to the Siouxland Humane Society in Donna's memory.
