Doris Viola (Lund) Ehle, 88, of Battle Creek, NE, formerly of Ponca, NE passed away on Tuesday, October 29, 2013 at Community Pride Care Center in Battle Creek.Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, November 1, 2013 at Salem Lutheran Church in Ponca, NE. Visitation with the family present will begin at 9:30 A.M. Friday at the church. Burial will be in the Ponca Cemetery in Ponca, NE. Arrangements are under the direction of Mohr Funeral Home in Ponca, NE.Doris was born January 20, 1925 in Newcastle, NE, the daughter of Maurice and Mable (Birkley) Lund. She was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Maskell, NE. Doris graduated from Newcastle High School and then attended St. Joseph Beauty College in Sioux City, IA.On June 26, 1947 Doris married Dean Ehle Jr. from Ponca, NE. They were blessed with two daughters, Nancy and Betty. It was in Ponca that Dean and Doris lived, worked and raised their family.Doris had her in-home beauty shop (Sunny Nook) for many years. Doris was an active member of the Salem Lutheran Church and the Ladies Aid group. She was also an active community member. Doris especially loved the Garden Club. She was a collector of many things, especially hats. Doris' greatest love was spending time with her family and friends.Doris moved to Tilden, NE in 1997 where she resided until 2009. She then moved to the Community Pride Care Center in Battle Creek, NE.Doris is survived by her daughter, Nancy and husband, Greg Schwartz of Tilden, NE; brother, Ray and wife Julie Lund of La Cygne, Kansas; sisters-in-law, Donna Lund of Ponca, NE and Marcy Lund of Vermillion, SD; 8 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; and many dearly loved nieces and nephews.Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Dean (1979); daughter Betty (1991) and husband, Jerry (2007); her parents, Maurice and Mable; and brothers, Dale, Bob and Larry.
