Doris Mullins (ne Poches) of New Hope, MN, formerly of South Sioux City, NE returned to heaven and to the arms of the 2 greatest loves of her life, Jesus Christ and Jack Mullins, her dearest husband, on June 6, 2015.Services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, June 12, 2015 at St. Michael's Catholic Church in South Sioux City, NE with Rev. David Fulton officiating. Burial will be in St. Michael's Cemetery. Visitation with the family present will begin at 4:30 P.M., with a Rosary at 6:30 and Scriptural Wake Service at 7:00 P.M. on Thursday, June 11, 2015 at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Mohr Funeral Home in South Sioux City, NE.Doris was born on December 23, 1933 to Charles and Lillian Poches. Her mother gave birth to her during a snowstorm at home while her father was getting the doctor. She experienced the joy of a close family, having 2 dear brothers, Charles Jr. and Ron and dear sister, Lila Jeanine.She had such a great love of God that she decided to enter the convent at Mount St. Francis in Dubuque, IA when she was 16 years old. She also spent time at Sacred Heart Convent in Willmette, IL. She determined that God had another path for her and returned back to her family where she met their neighbor, Jack Mullins. She told her parents if she ever married, she would marry Jack. They were married May 29, 1957. Together they had 6 children which Doris believed were the greatest blessings that God gave her. She loved being a Mother and it showed always. Doris loved people and looked for opportunities in her jobs to help others. She taught school at St Catherine's in Oyens, Iowa where she was the first lay person to teach. She also taught school at Sacred Heart in Sioux City, worked at Younkers Dept. Store and worked in the Emotional Health Unit at Marian Health Center (Mercy Medical) from which job she retired. Doris lived in South Sioux City until she moved to New Hope, MN in 2013. She was preceded in death by her husband of 35 years, Jack Mullins. Her parents, Charles and Lillian Poches, her sister Lila Jeanine, her sister in law Carole Poches and her youngest baby, Susie. Doris is survived by her brothers, Charles (Barb) Poches and Ron Poches; her children, Julia (Tim) Knudson, Margaret Duffy (Steve Schell), Kurt (Lynn) Mullins, Mary (Gavin) Martin and Ellen (Mike) Johnston; her grandchildren, Jarrod Mullins, Melissa Amen, Matthew Johnston, Alek Johnston, Ashlyn Johnston, Nathan McSparran, Sarah McSparran, Danielle Martin, Dan Duffy, Andrea Bain and Ryan Schell; 9 great-grandchildren; and by her dearest friend and prayer partner, Jan Bobier. Memorials preferred to the LIHM Sisters in South Sioux City.
