Dorothy L. Baker

Dorothy L. Baker, 87 of Sioux City passed away Monday, December 9, 2024. Abiding by her wishes, cremation has taken place. A family graveside service will be held in the spring. 

Dorothy was born into the large family of Frank and Margaret (McCann) Ward on December 3, 1937 in Sioux City, Iowa. She graduated from Heelan High School. Dorothy married James W. Baker on July 14, 1956. They enjoyed 66 years together until James passed in 2022. 

Dorothy worked for Brothers Box Company for 40 years. She was also a lunch lady with the Sioux City Schools for several years. 

Dorothy enjoyed travelling the countryside with James. She also enjoyed many family vacations to Minnesota and family picnics. She became more of a homebody in her later years and really just enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. 

Dorothy is survived by her children, Terry (Toni) Baker, Tim Baker, Tom (JoAnn) Baker, and Tracy Nichols; 6 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James; infant son, James; and many siblings.
