Dorothy B. Keller, 83 of Ponca, NE passed away at Regency Square Care Center in South Sioux City, NE on Tuesday, May 22, 2012.Graveside services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, August 18, 2012 at Silver Ridge Cemetery in rural Ponca, NE. Arrangements are under the direction of Mohr Funeral Home in Ponca, NE.Dorothy was born on September 4, 1928 in Tacoma, WA, the daughter of Roy and Edith (Weatherby) Mathua. She was raised in Vancouver, WA by her mom and stepfather, Edith and Charles Moore and by her aunt Bernie in CA. She married Donovan Shearer. Donovan passed away in 1957. She then married Larry Keller in California. The couple made their home in Newcastle and Martinsburg, NE. Dorothy was a homemaker. Larry passed away in 1988. In 1989 Dorothy moved to Ponca, NE. She spent the last six months in Regency Square Care Center in South Sioux City, NE.In Dot's lifetime she painted, played the organ, bowled, played cards, read books, watched TV, had good times with family and friends, and loved her grandkids.Survivors include two sons, Donovan Shearer of Kansas City, MO and Larry (Vicki) Shearer of Placerville, CA; daughter-in-law, Jan Keller of Martinsburg, NE; 6 grandchildren, Haley, John and Josh Keller, Shanon and Christian Shearer and Erik Hurst; 6 great-grandchildren; a sister, Debra Long of Asheville, N.C.; brother-in-laws, Dean (Gretta) Keller of Minneapolis, MN, Mike (Bonnie) Fluent of Wayne, NE and Chris (Bonnie) Bostwick of Ponca, NE; and her best friend, Dorothy Anderson of Newcastle, NE.Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Roy Mathua and Charles and Edith Moore; an aunt, Bernadine Biddle; husbands, Donovan Shearer and Larry Keller; a son, Scott Keller; sister, Lorraine Vamarrita; and sister-in-law, Nancy Bostwick.
