Dorothy (Bottorff) Pearson passed away at the age of 94 on September 26, 2009, in Gaylord, MN. A memorial service will be held at Christ the King Community Church in Ponca, NE, at 11:00 am on Saturday, October 10. Visitation and a lunch will be held after the service at the Methodist Church in Ponca. Arrangements are under the direction of Mohr Funeral Home. Online condolences may be sent at www.mohrfuneralhome.com.Dorothy was born August 13, 1915, in Ponca, NE, the daughter of Grover and Blanche (Myers) Bottorff. In 1932 she graduated from Newcastle High School, and married Vincent (Rip) Pearson on May 19, 1937. At the time, they were both country school teachers. She lived in and around Ponca most of her life. Vincent died April 23, 1990. After his death, she moved to Gaylord, MN, to be near family. Dorothy was a long-time member of the Presbyterian Church of Ponca where she served as elder, Sunday school teacher and in various offices of the Presbyterian Women. She was a former member of Eastern Star, Entre Nous and the Helping Hand Club She is survived by a daughter, Fran and her husband Howard Armstrong of Gaylord, MN; a son, Jerry and his wife Connie Pearson of Louisville, CO; 5 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; a sister, Betty Wright of Springfield, OR; and a sister-in-law, Jean Merritt of Colorado Springs, CO, as well as numerous nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Vincent; three brothers, Harold, Ray and Jack Bottorff; and a sister, Bonnie Harding.Memorial donations may be made to the Friends of the Ponca Library, Ponca, NE.
