Douglas James Stengel

Douglas J. Stengel, 74 of Algona, formerly of Sioux City, passed away on Saturday, July 23, 2022 at the Kossuth Regional Hospital in Algona, Iowa. A Graveside Service will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 28, 2022 at Memorial Park Cemetery with Military Honors offered by the United States Army Reserve. Visitation, with family present, will be from 3:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 27th at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Online condolences may be offered to the family at www.meyerbroschapels.com Douglas was born on June 29, 1948 in Sioux City to Romaine and Betty (Bathurst) Stengel. He received his education in the Sioux City Public Schools before joining the United States Army. Upon receiving his honorable discharge, Douglas returned to Sioux City, working various jobs. From Sioux City, he relocated to Emmetsburg, and within the last few years enjoyed calling Algona home. Douglas is survived by his sister Theresa and her husband Robert Ragan, sister Janice and husband Robert Tudehope, and brother Jay Weaver; nephews Jacob Tudehope and Philip Hageman; and nieces Kay Monk and Kim Paris. Douglas was preceded in death by his mother Betty Ireland, father Romaine Stengel, and wife Doris Stengel.
