Rory was born on October 10, 1977 in Sioux City to Dennis and Sharon (O’Neill) McKenna. He graduated from East High School in 1997 and went on to attend the University of Iowa and Scott Community College before earning his Doctor of Chiropractic from Palmer College of Chiropractic in 2004.

Following the completion of his Doctorate degree, Rory followed his dream of living in New York City, then moved to Chicago in 2008 and set up his own chiropractic practice. He owned and operated Essential Wellness and Pain Center until his passing.

Growing up Rory was a member of the Boy Scouts, achieving the highest rank of Eagle Scout. He also held the record for the 100-yard dash at East High School for over 20 years.

Rory was an avid painter; loved exploring the world with his mother; and had a soft spot in his heart for veterans and people with disabilities. He worked tirelessly to build his practice and was passionate about providing wellness and care to his devoted patients.  Rory was the life of every party and left you guessing which moustache, wig or costume (#Panda) he would wear.  Every 4th of July, you would know where Rory was because his fireworks displays were unrivaled. He was also the World’s Greatest Uncle to Liam, Owen, and Maren.

He is survived by his mother, Sharon McKenna; his father, Dennis McKenna; his twin brother, Ryan McKenna and his children: Liam, Owen, and Maren; and an amazing group of friends who were as close to him as family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Rory’s family for a future educational fund for those interested in pursuing careers in science and chiropractic care.  Rory’s family hopes to highlight the importance of suicide education and prevention through his death.   Online condolences may be directed to www.meyerbroschapels.com.
