Duane B. Musselman

December 6, 1928 — January 13, 2021

   Duane B. Musselman, 92, of Sioux City, IA passed away on Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at his home.

   Funeral services will be 12:00 p.m. (noon) Tuesday, January 19, 2021 at Wesley United Methodist Church in Sioux City with Pastor Todd Schlitter officiating.  Burial with full military honors will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.  The family will greet friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m.

   Duane, the son of Clifford and Mae (Reid) Musselman, was born December 6, 1928 in Sioux City, IA.  He grew up in Sioux City and graduated from Leeds High School with the Class of 1947.  While in high school, Duane enjoyed sports and was a member of the football and basketball team was a pole vaulter on the track team.  On June 23, 1948, he enlisted with the Naval Reserve and served until his honorable discharge on May 9, 1956.

   On May 12, 1949, Duane was united in marriage to Estelle Deedrick at Wesley United Methodist Church and this union was blessed with three children.  After their marriage, Duane and Estelle made their home in Sioux City then moved to Sundance, WY for a few years while Duane was employed at Knapp and Spencer.  They returned to Sioux City to raise their family and Duane went to work for Roberts Dairy as a milk man.  For several years, he worked as a district sales manager for Dura-Pak where he enjoyed traveling to several sporting goods shows.  Due to health issues, he retired in the early 1980’s.

   Duane enjoyed coloring, fishing, hunting, camping, swimming, bowling and golfing.  Duane and his family enjoyed their yearly trips to Sundance, WY and spending time at their cabin at Miners Bend.  Over the years, Duane enjoyed reminiscing with old friends.  Above all, he loved his family dearly and loved attending his grandchildren and great grandchildren’s sporting events.  Duane was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church and had been active in their choir.

   He is survived by his three children: Diana Terrell of Sioux City, Beth Musselman of Blue, AZ, and Mark (Cheryl) Musselman of Council Bluffs, IA; six grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; one brother, Dean (Jean) Musselman of Council Bluffs; one sister-in-law, Mary Musselman of Sioux City; and numerous nieces and nephews.

   He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Estelle on March 17, 2005; and one brother, Glenn Musselman.
