Edward Ray Risner Sr.

October 6, 1943 — March 6, 2021

Edward Ray Risner Sr., 77, longtime resident of Dakota City, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 6, 2021 at his home.

A Memorial Service will be held at 6:00 P.M. Wednesday, March 10, 2021 at Mohr & Becker-Hunt Funeral Home.  Visitation with the family present will be held one hour prior to the service.  Burial will be at a later date at Dakota City Cemetery in Dakota City, Nebraska.  Online condolences may be given at www.meyerbroschapels.com

Edward was born on October 6, 1943 in Sioux City, the son of Elden and Eunice (Wise) Risner.  He grew up and attended schools in the Siouxland area.  Edward married Sharon Satterwhite on February 15, 1975 at the United Methodist Church in Dakota City, NE.  To this union, one son:  Eddie R. Risner and one daughter:  Teresa R. Risner were born.  In a previous marriage, Edward also had three daughters:  Candy, Sonja, and Rhonda and one son:  Edward R. Risner Jr.

Edward’s hobbies included fishing and hunting at the local ponds and area lakes.  Ed owned and operated Risner Construction over a span of forty plus years.  Anyone knowing Ed, knew he was a perfectionist at his trade and enjoyed a job well done.  He was forced to retire early due to failing health.  During his last years, his greatest enjoyment was that of his grandchildren, great grandchildren, and his best friend at his side, “Little Red”.

Left behind to cherish his memory are his wife Sharon Risner of Dakota City, NE; son Eddie R. Risner Sr. (Marci) of Sioux City; two daughters:  Teresa (Michael) Waybright of Dakota City, NE, and Rhonda (Tony) Gunsolly of Sioux City; two brothers:  Cecil (Delores) Risner and Robin (Maryann) Risner both of Sioux City; sister Patricia Gereau of California; sisters-in-law:  Pamela Olson of Dakota City, Diana Risner of Oklahoma, Audrey Risner of Sioux City, Bonnie Olson of Sioux City, Sandy Wanderscheid of Sioux City, and Alanna Satterwhite of Dakota City, NE; brothers-in-law:  Robert Olson of Sioux City, Ricky Satterwhite of Dakota City, and Robert Wanderscheid of Sioux City; Grandchildren:  Samantha, Caitlyn, and Blake of Dakota City, NE, Eddie Jr. and Tatiana of Sioux City, and Chad of Beresford, Tiffany and Tim of Sioux City and Troy of Lincoln, NE, and Dusty and Brittany of Sioux City; Great Grandchildren:  Olivia, Jameson, and Nora of Dakota City; Atreus of Beresford, SD and Aubree of Brookings, SD and one on the way: Luna; and numerous other family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents Elden and Eunice Risner, children:  Candy Merryman, Sonja Risner, and Edward Risner Jr.; two brothers:  Allan and Arthur Risner; one sister: Shelia Risner; sister and brother-in-law:  Cecilia and Thomas Stevens; brothers-in-law: Terry Gereau and Lowell E. Satterwhite; and parents-in-law:  Robert and Maxine Satterwhite.

The family would like to give a special thank you to Hospice of Siouxland for their compassionate care of Edward.
