Edward C. Watchorn

Edward C. Watchorn, 91, of Ponca, NE passed away on Thursday, September 29, 2016 at the Elms Health Care Center in Ponca, NE.Funeral services will be at 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday, October 4, 2016 at United Methodist Church in Ponca, NE. Burial with military rites will be in the Ponca Cemetery in Ponca, NE. Visitation will begin at 5:00 P.M., with the family present at 6:00 P.M. and a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. on Monday, October 3, 2016 at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Mohr Funeral Home in Ponca, NE.Edward was born on April 5, 1925 in North Bend, NE, the son of Thomas and Ruth (Griffith) Watchorn. He attended school in rural Ponca, and served in the U.S. Army from 2-20-1945 to 12-13-1946, where he was stationed in Korea during World War II. He married Betty Foulks on May 2, 1948 at the United Methodist Church in Ponca. The couple farmed in rural Ponca and raised a family. Betty passed away on April 16, 2016.Edward was a member of the United Methodist Church in Ponca and the Ponca American Legion Post #117. He enjoyed spending time with his family and attending sporting events for his grandchildren. He also enjoyed taking bus trips with Betty.Survivors include his children, Gene Watchorn and Julie, Thomas Watchorn and his special friend, April, Rebekah (Tom) Davenport, Richard (Mary) Watchorn, George (Amy) Watchorn; 15 grandchildren, Gena (Andy) Christofferson, Adam (Kim) Watchorn, Mandy McDowell, Lori (Mike) Baker, Kerri Watchorn, Missy Watchorn, Christopher Watchorn, Lucas Snodgrass, Paul Snodgrass, Matt Watchorn, Brandon Watchorn, Josh Watchorn, Andrew Watchorn and fiance Jessica Flowers, Patrick Watchorn and Elizabeth Watchorn; 13 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great granddaughter and another great-great grandchild on the way; sisters-in-law, Velma and Virginia Watchorn; and many nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Watchorn; his parents, Thomas and Ruth Watchorn; a great-granddaughter, Kylie; siblings Wally Watchorn, Glenn Watchorn, Kenneth (Elaine & Roseanne) Watchorn, Sylvia (Joseph) Redding and Ross (Elizabeth) Watchorn.
