Eleanor A. "Ellie" Geary

Eleanor A. “Ellie” Geary, 66, of Elk Point, South Dakota, passed away Sunday, January 24, 2021 peacefully with her family by her side.  Funeral services will be 9:30 A.M. Friday, January 29, 2021 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.  Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. with a Vigil service at 7:00 P.M. Thursday, January 28, 2021 at the church.  Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery.  

Ellie was born the daughter of Marvin J. and Hermanna E. (Jippes) Kaelke on October 2, 1954 in Akron, Iowa.  She graduated from West High School in 1974.  Ellie married James “Jim” Geary, Jr. on April 12, 1975 in Elk Point, South Dakota.  She retired from Pioneer Drug after 22 years. 

Ellie will be fondly remembered as a hard worker and a person who enjoyed helping and taking care of others.  She loved her grandchildren very much.  She liked attending their sporting events and fishing and playing games with them.  She was most importantly a Christian woman who was strong in her faith and very dedicated to her prayers for others.

Ellie is survived by her husband, Jim Geary, Jr. of Elk Point, South Dakota; children, Lee Geary and Hollie (Todd) Sands all of Elk Point, South Dakota; brother, Roger (Julie) Kaelke of Sioux City; and grandchildren, Michael, Ethan, Skyler, Aaron, and Austin.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Daniel.
