  Elizabeth “Betty” Joanne Hagan Lord Everist, 90, of Sioux City passed away peacefully on May 31, 2022 at Unity Point Hospital.

   Services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, June 3, 2022 at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel in Sioux City.  Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.  The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service.  There will be a Celebration of Life for Betty from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Friday at the Warrior Hotel in Sioux City.   

   Betty was born August 17,1931 and was a lifelong 4th generation resident of Sioux City, IA. Betty attended Blessed Sacrament School, Cathedral High School “49”and spent a year at Morningside College before transferring to the University of Miami, graduating with a Physical Education degree in 1954.

   Betty married Edgar Benjamin Lord Jr. in Coral Gables, FL on June 6, 1955, a then Marine Aviator. In 1960, Betty and Ed moved to Sioux City to raise their four children in the Heights neighborhood.

   Betty enjoyed spending summers with family on Des Moines Beach in Okoboji, IA. Betty was an ongoing member and past President of the Junior League of Sioux City facilitating the launch of the JLSC Discovery Shop in 1971. Betty was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church.

   After the death of her first husband, Betty married L.Garland Everist, in Sioux City on March 9, 1994, spending 18 wonderful years traveling the world and living happily in their beloved hometown.   

   Betty is survived by her son Edgar Benjamin Lord III and his wife Eileen McGowan Lord of Sioux City, daughter Julie Ann Lord of Sioux City, daughter Mary Patrice Kelly and her husband John Kelly of Chicago, IL and son Alex Lord of San Francisco, CA; grandchildren, Matthew and his wife Aja Lord of Beaufort, SC, Natalie Lord of Salt Lake City, UT, Sophia Lord of Minneapolis, MN, Julia Kelly of Chicago, IL, Tess Lord of Sioux City, Caroline Kelly of Chicago, IL, Annie Lord of Sioux City; sister, Patty Walton of Miami, FL, brother, William and his wife Jan Hagan of Kansas City, KS and sister Michele “Shelly” Healy of Denver, CO.

   Betty was preceded in death by her first husband Edgar Benjamin Lord Jr., second husband L.Garland Everist, parents William Vincent Hagan and Mary Hazel Moran Hagan.

   Memorials may be made in her name to the St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
