Elizabeth "Betty" P. Rockwell

Elizabeth P. "Betty" Rockwell, 89, of Sioux City, IA, formerly of Ponca, NE passed away on Monday, December 22, 2014 at Sunrise Retirement Community in Sioux City.Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, December 27, 2014 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Ponca with Rev. Andrew Sohm officiating. Burial will be in Calvary at South Creek Cemetery in rural Ponca. Visitation with the family present will begin at 5:00 P.M., with a rosary service at 6:00 P.M. on Friday, December 26, 2014 at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Mohr Funeral Home in Ponca.Elizabeth was born in Ponca, NE on August 1, 1925, the daughter of Frank and Elizabeth (Pauley) Wellenstein. She graduated from Ponca High School and lived in the Ponca area most of her life. She married Bill Rockwell on October 23, 1947 in Ponca, and was a homemaker, caring for their home and family. The couple moved to Sioux City in 2009.Cooking was her specialty. She enjoyed it and was very good at it. She also enjoyed immensely spending time with her family and grandchildren. She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and Altar Society.Survivors include her husband, Bill Rockwell of Sioux City, IA; a son, Bob (Maureen) Rockwell of Omaha, NE; 6 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her son, Rick Troth; and 2 brothers, Lawrence and Bud Wellenstein.
