Elizabeth Ann “Liz” Prochelo of Sioux City, passed away on Thursday, November 18, 2021 at home after a battle with Metastatic Breast Cancer. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, November 22, 2021 at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Elizabeth was born February 25, 1938 to Alma (Christensen) and Edward Mohrhauser. She was raised and attended school in Danbury, IA. Liz lived most of her life in Sioux City raising her two sons Corey and Robert (Bob). She worked as a bar and restaurant manager in several restaurants in the area. Liz married Anthony (Tony) Prochelo April 27, 1983 in Texas. They resided in Mexico until moving back to Des Moines, IA where Tony passed away on July 3, 1984. Upon returning to Sioux City, Liz worked at Marshall’s Liquor for 20 years until her retirement.
She enjoyed gardening; traveling to Arkansas to visit her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and son; spending time with her sister; playing cards; the annual Mohrhauser family reunion; visiting with family and friends and her pet bird.
Survivors include her two sons: Corey (Linda) Mohrhauser of Bella Vista, AR, and Robert Dowd of Sioux City; Grandchildren: Tabatha (Aaron) Divine of Anderson, MO; Toni (Matt) Rachel of Ozark, MO; Trisha Mohrhauser of Sioux City; Andrea (Chris) Mohrhauser of Bella Vista, AR; Samantha (William) Dowd of Sheldon; Anthony Dowd, Nathaniel Dowd, both of Sioux City; and Corey Lee of South Dakota; 17 great-grandchildren; sister Norma of Sergeant Bluff; brother Gilbert (Rosemary) of Hartford, SD; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband Anthony; parents, Alma and Edward; brother, Verdell; sister Shirley; grandson, Christopher Dowd; and 2 great-grandsons: Cole Edward Mohrhauser and Sawyer Wozny-Dowd.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Elizabeth's name may be directed to the Judy Nylen Cancer Center.
