Ellen Krause

Ellen Krause, 90, of rural Winnebago passed away Sunday, November 13, 2022.  Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Friday, November 18, 2022 at Mohr & Becker-Hunt Funeral Home in South Sioux City.  Visitation will be Thursday, November 17, 2022 from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. with a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home.  Burial will be at Omaha Valley Cemetery in Homer after the services.  

Ellen was born to Howard and Cecelia (Alam) McGhee on September 5, 1932 in Sioux City, Iowa, graduating from Winnebago High School in 1950.  She received her teaching certificate from Wayne State and taught country school until marrying Everett Krause on February 16, 1952.  He preceded her in death in 2001.  This union was blessed with 6 children.  They farmed, making their home in rural Winnebago, where she has lived for 70 years.

Ellen worked in retail and cooked, managing restaurants for many years in the Winnebago and Homer area. 

She enjoyed colorful flowers, puzzles, and loved spending time with her family and grandchildren cooking many a Sunday meal for everyone! The family especially misses her pies and homemade noodles, among other foods. Her true passion and legacy will be left through her cooking and baking.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children, LeAndra (James Omlid) Corbett of Tucson, AZ; Rod (Lori) Krause of Homer, NE; Lynn (Susan) Krause of Homer, NE; Lori (David) Kinning of Lyons, NE; Todd (Patriece) Krause of Winnebago, NE and son-in-law, Adam Youngberg of Sioux City, IA; sister, Joyce (Gordon) Watson of Ava, MO; sister-in-law, Verna Jean Morgan of Homer, NE; 16 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren; along with several nieces, nephews and other family members.

She was preceded in death by her parents; 5 sisters, 1 brother, her husband, Everett; and daughter, LiChelle. Memorials may be directed to the family for future designation.
