Elzie E. Schoepf, 85, of South Sioux City, NE passed away at a Sioux City hospital on Monday, February 17, 2014.Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, February 21, 2014 at the Mohr Funeral Home, 1431 W. 29th Street in South Sioux City, NE with Rev. Charles Horkey officiating. Burial will be in the Dakota City Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Thursday, February 20, 2014 at the funeral home. He graduated from Spencer High School. He married Colleen Hart. To this union six children were born. The couple farmed near Spencer. Colleen and Elzie later divorced and Elzie moved to South Sioux City, NE, where he owned and operated his own business manufacturing horse racetrack equipment.He participated in fundraising activities for the Boy's Club for many years. He was passionate about horse racing, hunting and fishing.Survivors include his special friend and companion of sixteen years, Pat Zeisler; children, Becky Asper, Doug (Pam) Schoepf, Brad Schoepf, Nikki (Dale) Nix, and Cliff (Gail) Schoepf; 13 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 4 sisters, Hazel Coatsworth, Juanita (Russell) Ediger, Jeanette Bartlett and Cynthia (Larry) Roster; and many nieces and nephews.Elzie was preceded in death by his parents, William and Ruby Schoepf; 1 son, Kenny Schoepf; granddaughters, Heidi Schoepf and Shawna Asper; brothers, Merle, Jack, Edward and Mert; and sisters, Jean Palmer and Georgia Ediger.
