Emma Jane Buettner, 93, of Sioux City passed away Sunday, March 23, 2025, at a local care center following a three month illness.
Private Graveside Services will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Emma was born December 28, 1931, in Plain City, Ohio, the daughter of Roman and Emma (Kramer) Yoder. She grew up in Pennsylvania, received her GED and attended a few years of college. Emma married Donald D. Buettner on March 31, 1952 in Odebolt, IA, and the couple resided in Odebolt. Donald preceded her in death on September 10, 2006. Emma worked at the Palmer House Café, Aalfs, and at St. Vincent's Hospital as a CNA. She was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church and enjoyed baking for the annual cookie walk. Emma was an exceptional seamstress, and loved cooking, baking, gardening, and crocheting.
Survivors include her children: Debra Engel, Gary Buettner, Jay Buettner, and Brenda Buettner; grandchildren: Rachelle McPhillips, Melissa Engel, Jason Engel (Sumire), Tonie (Ray) LaFleur, Angela (Jimmy), Reed McCabe, Shantelle (Kody) Kasik; great grandchildren: Tyson, Ciarra (Andy Gholson), Declan McPhillips, Tyler and Hana Engel, Tanner LaFleur, Natalee Longwell, Kimber and Aubree Kasik, Onnia Nguyen (Jacob Switzer), and Emma Bayona.
Emma was preceded in death by her parents Roman and Emma Yoder, husband Donald Buettner (May 11, 1927 - September 10, 2006), and twelve brothers and sisters.
Donations may be made to the Hospice of the Midwest in Emma's Memory.
