Emma Louise (Corkin) Parsons, 78 of Casper, WY, formerly of South Sioux City, NE passed away on October 25, 2013 at Wyoming Medical Center in Casper, WY while surrounded by loved ones.Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, November 9, 2013 at the Mohr Funeral Home in South Sioux City, NE with Father Paul Albenesius officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Catholic Cemetery in rural Jackson. Visitation with the family present will begin one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.Emma was born in Sioux City, IA on March 31, 1935 to George and Mary (McCulloch) Corkin. She grew up and attended school in South Sioux City, NE. After graduating, she went on to Wayne State College where she earned her teaching certificate. She taught for a short time before getting married and starting a family. While raising children, her passion for cooking drew her to the restaurant business, where she continued to work until retirement. Emma devoted her life to her children and cherished every moment with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.Survivors include one son, Rod (Sheila) Cummings of Sioux City, IA; two daughters, Sherri (Bill) Johnson and Teresa Parsons, both of Casper WY; one brother, Bill (Claudette) Corkin of Dakota City, NE; two sisters, Betty Delong (Fred) Stinger of South Sioux City, NE and Ester McGuire of Tucson, AZ; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.Emma was preceded in death by two brothers, George Jr. and Robert: two sisters, Mary (Myra) Smith and Elanor Leaverton; three infant sons; and three grandsons.
