Eunice Mae Wilson

Eunice Mae Wilson, formerly of Dakota City, NE, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Sunday, January 19th, 2025 at the age of 92. 

A funeral is scheduled for 11:00 am on Friday, January 31, 2025 at Mohr & Becker Hunt Funeral home, with a luncheon reception immediately following. 1431 W 29th Street, South Sioux City, NE. 68776. Visitation will precede at 10am on Friday, January 31st. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Eunice’s life. 

Eunice is survived by her children, Jeanie (Dwayne) Berner, Dave (Karen) Wilson and Joyce Wilson, as well as her grandchildren, Nick (Jeni) Eriksen, Jenny (Jon) Eriksen, Jess (Casey) Ackermann, David Wilson, Ryan (Jenny) Wilson, Kaitlin Wilson, Adam Beltz, Aaron Beltz, and Spencer Wilson. She is also survived by 5 nieces/nephews and 8 great grandchildren. 

She is preceded in death by her husband Dave Wilson, sister LaVonne Zimmerman, and brothers Robert Collins and Melvin Nottleman. 

Eunice was born in Macy, Nebraska on August 19, 1932 to Floyd Nottleman and Hazel Ripken. She was raised in both Macy and Blair, Nebraska before meeting the love of her life and beloved husband, Dave Wilson. Dave and Eunice resided in Homer Nebraska where they raised their three children, before eventually relocating to Dakota City, Nebraska. 

Early on, Eunice spent her time working at the IBP plant and then later enjoyed her time working in the lunchroom at the Dakota City Elementary school. Following retirement from the school, she spent her time with family and friends and being an active member of her community and local church. 

Eunice had a contagious smile and laugh and welcomed all who met her with open arms. She enjoyed good conversation, her large backyard garden, crosswords and puzzles, and spending time with her loved ones. Those who knew her knew her biggest love was playing cards. She spent many years playing with friends in her card club, at her local church and with her family. She loved to include her grandchildren in cards and spent many nights around her kitchen table laughing and playing her favorite “nickel game”.

Eunice moved to Omaha, Nebraska in 2015. She enjoyed many activities with her neighbors and caregivers at Hillcrest Shadow Lake. Her family would like give special thanks to her caregivers for the exceptional care they provided. She was loved by many.
