Frances "Fran" Kay Finken

December 3, 1945 — April 8, 2021

Frances “Fran” Kay Finken, 75, of Dakota Dunes, SD, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family Thursday, April 8, 2021 at a local hospital.

A public visitation will be held from 9:00 A.M. to 10:00 A.M. Saturday, April 10, 2021 at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. A graveside service will follow at 10:30 A.M. at Calvary Cemetery. Online condolences can be expressed at www.meyerbroschapels.com.

Fran was born December 3, 1945 in Sioux City. She attended Central High School. She married Gary Finken on June 12, 1965 at St. Boniface Church. Together they started a family and lived in Sioux City several years before moving into their dream home they built in 1979 located in Dakota Dunes. Fran worked for the Marina Inn in South Sioux City multiple years before starting a 30 year career at Interbake Foods until she retired in 2010.

Fran enjoyed most of her summers on the boat with her family making wakes mainly on Brown’s Lake and Lewis and Clark Lake in Yankton, SD. She really enjoyed outfoxing everyone during years of frequently playing card games as a family past time. She loved all of her pets over the years, especially Maddie, who was always at her side during these past couple of years as she struggled with several medical issues.

She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Gary Finken of Dakota Dunes; children Jeff Finken of Dakota Dunes, Charmelle (Mark) Vondrak of Houston, TX, Scott (Angela) Finken of Cedar Rapids, IA; grandchildren Justin and Morgan Finken of Sioux City and Elena, Analese, John Vondrak of Houston, TX; sisters Carol Krommenhoek of Sergeant Bluff, IA, Patricia Honeycutt of Wichita, KS; brother Clinton McKettrick of Abilene, TX.

She was preceded in death by her parents William McKettrick and Rose (Klave) McKettrick, and sister Helen Abelson.
