Franklin H. “Frank” Nelson, 87, of South Sioux City, passed away on Wednesday, April 20, 2022 at a local care facility. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 25, 2022 at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Frank was born on October 29, 1934 in Rural Dakota County, Nebraska, to Franklin and Dorothy Nelson. He graduated from Bishop Heelan Catholic High School in Sioux City. Frank married Roberta Harrington in 1955, and to this union four children were born. Frank was a truck driver for most of his life. He also served in the United States Air Force from 1956 to 1959. He was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church in South Sioux City. In his free time, Frank enjoyed tractor pulling (and appreciated John Deere’s), riding his motorcycle across the country, and car racing. He loved talking to anyone and everyone. He is survived by his children: Cynthia Hobbs, Randy Nelson (Connie), Michael Nelson (Karen), and Carrie Nelson; his longtime companion, Norma Geveshausen; eight grandchildren: Dennis (Brenda), Christopher (Maria), Justin (Debra), Travis, Jason (Allyson), Jenna, Jacob (Sarah), and Michaela (Levi); 15 great-grandchildren: Jordan, Gavin, Isabell, Kaitlyn, Jocelyn, Benjamin, Cheyenne, Adam, Payton, Liam, Sawyer, Bishop, Connor, Joshua, and Evelyn; brother, Tom Nelson (Madonna); sister, Marian Brown (Jerry); and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Carol Nelson; three brothers: Raymond Nelson, Vernon Nelson, and Vincent Nelson; and one great-grandson, Alexander Nelson.
