Frederick Metz

Frederick A Metz, 74 years old, of Sioux City IA died Wednesday, December 26, 2018 at Sioux Falls VA, Sioux Falls, SD. He went by several nick names such as Fritz, Freddy and Fred. A memorial service will be held Friday, January 11, 2019 at 1:00 P.M. at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Frederick was born on July 13, 1944, in Sioux City IA, the son of Frederick W and Hildagard (Reibe) Metz. He entered the Army on July 14, 1961 and he was honorably discharged in June 25, of 1964. He went on to school for his apprenticeship for bricklayer. He maintained his own roofing business for a few years. He enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing and hunting in his years. Throughout his later years, he enjoyed camping with his daughter and grandchildren as much as his health would allow. He enjoyed listening to Jazz, taking in the sunset and listening to nature. He was a loving father and grandfather. He loved his companion Charlie and thought the world of this friend. Survivors include former wife Connie Metz (Sands), daughter Michelle (Jason) Schroeder of Worthing, SD, and their two children, Rebeka and Heath Schroeder; a brother, Alan Metz, his wife Jane Metz and their three children Jacob (Ashley), Madison and Jordan; and a grandniece Riley. Other survivors include a niece, nephew, former brother-n-law and numerous cousins. He was preceded in death by a son Heath Metz, and his parents, Hildagard and Fred Metz.
