Fredrick "Fred" F. Bocian Jr., 82, of Sioux City passed away on January 14, 2025, at the age of 82. Fredrick, the son of Fredrick and Rose (Pope) Bocian, was born on June 18, 1942, in Sioux City, IA. Fred was a lifelong resident of Sioux City.
Fred's educational journey commenced at Heelan High School, from which he graduated before serving his country for a brief period in the United States Army. After returning home, Fred embarked on a fulfilling career that spanned 38 years at the Metz Baking Company in Sioux City. His dedication to his work was matched only by his commitment to his family and faith community.
In 1972, Fred entered into marriage with Karen Kudron and they were blessed with two wonderful children.
Fred was known for his engaging personality and love of storytelling. A man of great faith, he was dedicated to his church (Mater Dei Parish) and spent many hours supporting various organizations through his generous spirit. His hobbies and interests reflected his vibrant personality; he enjoyed collecting cars, listening to old country music, and watching Westerns as well as the popular television series, The Curse of Oak Island.
Fred is survived by his special friend, Vicky Blomberg of Sioux City; his son, Bryan (Belinda) Bocian of Sioux City; his daughter, Shelley (Bernie) Bahmer of Sioux City; seven grandchildren, Angel, Daytona, Isabella, Marianna, Antonio, Bentley, and Carter; and one brother, Paul (Rose) Bocian of Sioux City. He was preceded in death by his parents and his former wife, Karen.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, January 23, 2025, at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel in Sioux City. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery.
