Gary Lee Frank, 73 of South Sioux City, Nebraska passed away on Saturday, March 15, 2025 comforted by family in his home. A Celebration of Life Service will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 22, 2025 at the Mohr & Becker-Hunt Funeral Home with Pastor Fred Sundt officiating. Refreshments and fellowship will follow in the Mohr & Becker-Hunt Social Hall.
Gary was born on December 31, 1951 in Sioux City, Iowa, son of Jim and Opal (Goodwin) Frank. Gary grew up around horses all his life. He was a jockey at age 14. His passion was in the race-horse business. Gary worked for well known trainers like Bill Mott, TV Smith, and others. He followed the racing circuit from Saratoga Track in New York & Gulf Stream Track in Florida, along with additional tracks in Arkansas and Kentucky. Gary exercised top race horses that ran in big races, having his most memorable was the horse “Cigar”. Everyone loved Gary and he was truly a Horse Whisperer. Gary was a very free spirited, kind, and loving person. He will truly be missed.
Survivors include his brother Bob (Glenda) Frank of South Sioux City, Nebraska; sister Sherri Schoepf of South Sioux City, Nebraska; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, along with great-great-nieces and nephews.
Gary was preceded in death by is parents, brother Jim Frank, and two nieces.
