Gary T. Lien, 86, of Sioux City passed away Friday, July 8, 2022 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.
Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, July 15, 2022 at Faith United Presbyterian Church with Reverend David Koehler officiating. Visitation with the family will be Thursday, July 14, 2022 from 5-7 P.M. with a Prayer Service at 7:00 P.M. at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery. Gary was born April 12, 1936 in Canton, South Dakota, the son of Theodore and Grace (Anderson) Lien. Shortly after Gary’s birth, the family moved to Inwood, Iowa where Gary was raised. He graduated from Central High School and enlisted in the Army Reserves, based in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
While attending a friend’s wedding as his best man, Gary met the maid of honor, Karen White, and the couple later married on September 30, 1967 in Sioux City. Gary worked for Interbake, formerly known as Johnson Biscuit until he retired in 1991. Gary enjoyed gardening and working around the house. He was a member of the Elks Club and Faith United Presbyterian Church.
Gary is lovingly held in the hearts of his family; his wife: Karen Lien; sons: Todd and wife Lesli Lien and Kirk and wife Brandie Lien; his grandchildren: Carolyn Lien, Sutherlyn Lien, Kevin Lien, and Braelynn Lien; his nieces: Lindsey and husband Josh, Ashley and husband Jason and their children Cayden, Jayce, and Hunter, Courtney and husband Tony Bahr and their children Cameron, Tyler, and Anthony; his nephews: Michael and wife Deborah Padomek, Jason Wells and his daughter Ella and Christopher and wife Jennifer Storms and their daughter Gwendolyn; and his cousin David and wife Carol Kimberly of Mingo, Iowa.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents Theodore and Grace Lien and his sister Constance and her husband John Padomek, and his brother Douglas Lien.
The family would like to thank St. Croix Hospice for their wonderful care of Gary.
To the world he was one, but to us he was the world. Thank you for all of the beautiful memories you gave us. Our love is with you always.
