Gayle L. Anderson

Gayle L. Anderson, 88, of Sioux City passed away on Saturday, March 13, 2021.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 20, 2021 at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel in Sioux City with Reverend Kenny Hsu officiating.  Burial will follow at Logan Park Cemetery.  The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service on Saturday.

Gayle Louise, the daughter of Adolph Walter and Louise (Jacobs) Rosemore, was born July 8, 1932 in Minnesota.  Gayle’s younger years were spent in Minnesota then her family moved to South Dakota and she graduated from Alcester High School in 1950.

On November 29, 1950, Gayle was united in marriage to Roger G. Anderson and this union was blessed with four sons.  Following Roger’s discharge from the military, the couple moved to and made their home in the Riverside area of Sioux City.  Gayle was a busy homemaker and she worked a few different jobs outside the home.  For 30+ years she worked as a bartender at the V.F.W. on Court Street until her retirement in 2012.  Roger passed away on February 5, 2014 and Gayle continued to live in her own home until 2018 when she moved to Bickford Senior Living.

Gayle enjoyed playing cards and Scrabble; doing oil paintings; and was an avid watcher of Judge Judy.  She loved her birds and her special dog, Moochie.  Above all, she loved spending time with her family.  She was member of Riverside Lutheran Church and the V.F.W. Women’s Auxiliary.

Gayle is survived by three sons and their spouses: Marlon (Debra) Anderson, Bryon (Cheryl) Anderson, and Joel (Shele) Anderson all of Sioux City; six grandchildren: Melissa (Jamie) Recker, Marnee Daugherty, Bryon (Crystal) Anderson, Jacob (Latrinda) Anderson, Selina Anderson (Nick Darr), and Austin (Tara) Anderson; 16 great grandchildren; and one brother-in-law, Leroy Anderson of Sioux City.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Roger; one son, Steven Anderson; one brother, Jack (Audell) Rosemore, and one sister, Lois (Leon) Stalls.
