Gene G Hansen

Gene G. Hansen, 85, of Hinton passed away peacefully on Friday, February 11, 2022.

Visitation with the family will be Thursday, February 17, 2022 from 5:00-7:00 P.M. with a Prayer Service at 7:00 P.M. at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.  Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery.  Online condolences may be given at www.meyerbroschapels.com.  

Gene was born February 8, 1937 in Sioux City, the son of E.G. and Minnie (Bonnes) Hansen.  Gene attended Hinton schools and graduated from Central High School in Sioux City.  While in school, Gene enrolled in The Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC) for four years and graduated from the University of South Dakota with a degree in Agriculture Business. He was a veteran of the United States Army.  Gene married Mary Elisabeth Hoklin on July 10, 1976 in Sioux City.  She preceded him in death on April 24, 2011. 

A lifelong Hinton resident, Gene farmed most of his life and also drove truck for Midwest Continental for 20 years.  His love of the outdoors was evident with his pastimes including fishing and grilling outside.  He loved his time with family and could often be found watching old Western movies.  Gene was a member of the 1^st Evangelical Free Church. 

Survivors include his children:  Rick and wife Patty Hansen of Hinton and Kristen and husband Albert Perez of Sioux City; grandchildren:  Keri and husband Brad Noel, Kayla and husband Joe Ruhland, Elliana Perez and Lucia Perez; great grandchildren:  Harper and Hunter Noel and Bennett and Carter Ruhland.

He was preceded in death by his parents E.G. and Minnie Hansen and his wife Mary.
