Geoff Allen Goodman, loving husband and doting father who was loved by all who knew him, passed away on Tuesday, December 7, 2021 after a brave battle with cancer. He was 43 years old.
A celebration of life will be Friday, January 7, 2022 at 4 p.m. at Morningside Assembly of God (4310 Old Lakeport Road) in Sioux City. Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel is assisting with arrangements. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service on Friday at the church.
Geoff, the son of William and Mary (Gianino) Goodman, was born April 19, 1978 at Mercy Memorial Hospital in Monroe, MI. He grew up in various military bases as a child, one of which was in Germany and another in Texas, but his family settled in Holly and Monroe Michigan for the majority of his childhood. Geoff graduated from Saint Mary Catholic High School in 1996, then started attending Lee University in Cleveland, TN in winter of 2000 where he graduated with a degree in History, minors in Political Science and Bible in 2004. Geoff furthered his education by receiving his M.A.T. Degree from Lee University in Cleveland, TN in 2005. While in college, he worked in different restaurants while also being a Residence Assistant for Lee University. After graduating he made his home in Atlanta, GA for a few years then moved back to Cleveland, TN where he became a history teacher at Lake Forest Middle school until 2011. Throughout his college career he was President, induction chair, and chaplain for Theta Delta Kappa fraternity with tap 17 at Lee University. He was also a Big Brother for Epsilon Lambda Phi Sorority with Lee University.
On October 8, 2011, Geoff was united in marriage to Stephanie Lohry at the Marriott Hotel in South Sioux City, NE and this union was blessed with three children: Jordan, Isabella and Madeline. Geoff and Stephanie made their home in Dakota Dunes, SD. He opened the Game Lair in Sioux City and owned and operated that till his passing.
His hobbies included reading and talking about history, he loved all information. He loved to cook for lots of people as that was his love language and enjoyed playing games with his kids who were his favorite people. Geoff attended Morningside Assembly of God for a few years, then Sunnybrook Community Church in Sioux City.
Geoff is survived by his wife Stephanie Goodman of Dakota Dunes; three kids: Jordan, Isabella and Madeline; his father Bill Goodman of Sioux City; father and mother-in-law Raun and Shawn Lohry of Dakota Dunes as well as their 5 children and numerous grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his mother Mary Goodman and brother Bill Goodman.
Honorary pallbearers for Geoff’s service will be: Will Pitts, Andrew Barnett, Matt Allen, Matt Noe, Kent Williams, Nick Paulsen and Joel Lohry.
