Gerald “Jerry” Ray Becker, 83, of Sioux City passed away Friday, October 22, 2021 at a local hospital.

Burial at Memorial Park Cemetery is pending. Arrangements are under the direction of Nelson-Berger Northside Chapel. Online condolences can be expressed at www.meyerbroschapels.com.

Jerry was born July 29, 1938 in Sioux City, the son of Fred and Gladys (Ray) Becker. He graduated from Central High School in 1957. On November 28, 1958, he married Judy Smith in Sioux City. To this union, 3 sons were born. Following graduation, Jerry worked as a detailer at Miller Kidder Auto Sales, now Knoephler Chevrolet, for a few years then at United Wholesalers for 4 years until 1964. The family then moved to San Francisco briefly. They returned to Sioux City and Jerry began working at Sioux Tools as a machinist; he would retire from the company after 34 years.

Jerry was an outdoorsman; he enjoyed fishing, hunting, and belonged to a short haired dog hunting club in his youth. He loved spending time with his family and going on vacations. He also enjoyed watching boxing and football, especially the Minnesota Vikings.

Those left to honor his memory are his wife of 62 years, Judy Becker of Sioux City; son Kurt (Angela) Becker of Sioux City; daughter-in-law Christy Becker of Sioux City; grandchildren Hunter, Zane, Samantha, Nicole, and Jeremiah Becker, Lyric Tope; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sons Kenneth in 2004 and Keith in 2021; brothers Carl, Frank, Glen; sisters Doris Goolsby and Frida Roark; and several extended family members.
