Gerald "Jerry" E. Fergen, 73, of South Sioux City, NE passed away on Sunday, March 19, 2017 at his residence.Memorial services will be at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, March 24, 2017 at St. Michael's Catholic Church in South Sioux City, NE. Visitation will begin at 5:00 P.M. on Thursday, March 23, 2017 at the Mohr Funeral Home in South Sioux City, NE, with the family present at 6:30 P.M. and a prayer service at 7:30 P.M.Gerald was born on August 9, 1943 in Parkston, SD, the son of Hubert and Clara (Goehring) Fergen. He attended Heelan High School and Western Iowa Tech. in Sioux City, Iowa. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1961 to 1965. Jerry married Jeri Goergen on April 16, 1966 at St. Michael's Catholic Church in South Sioux City, NE. He worked at various places over the years, and began working at IBP in 1970.He was a car enthusiast, enjoyed working on cars, camping, and was an avid BS'er.Survivors include his wife, Jeri Fergen of South Sioux City, NE; daughter, Karla Fergen of Sgt. Bluff, IA; son, Rick (Pamela) Fergen of Waxhaw, NC; daughter and son, Alizae and Aevry Fergen of South Sioux City, NE; grandchildren, Joshua, Karissa, Kylie, and Devin Fergen; 10 great-grandchildren; brother, John (Geneva) Fergen of Newcastle, CO; and sister-in-law, Margaret Fergen of Sioux City, IA.He was preceded in death by his parents, Hubert and Clara Fergen; a brother, Richard Fergen; sister and brother-in-law, Corrine (Mike) Crilly; and great-grandson, Tyson Fergen.In lieu of flowers, donations in Jerry's name may be made to St. Michael's Catholic Church in South Sioux City, NE for their building fund.
