Gertrude E. Stading, 95, of Ponca, passed away Monday, October 5, 2009 at the Elms Health Care Center in Ponca, Nebraska.Funeral services will be at 10:30 A.M. Friday, October 9, 2009 at Salem Lutheran Church in Ponca, Nebraska with Rev. Dr. Neal Anthony officiating. Visitation will begin at 5:00 P.M. on Thursday, October 8, 2009, with the family present at 6:00 P.M. and a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. at the Mohr Funeral Home in Ponca. (French) Bailey in Garden City, South Dakota on January 18, 1914. She graduated from Madison High School in Madison, South Dakota in 1932. She married Clarence A. Stading on May 20, 1933 in Madison. The couple then moved to a farm west of Ponca, where they lived and farmed. Clarence passed away September 26, 1991. Gertrude moved into Ponca in 1994.She was a member of Salem Lutheran Church and WELCA.Gertrude enjoyed, and worked extensively in geneology.Survivors include sons, Lowell and his wife, Marliss Stading of Ponca and Donald Stading of Darien, Illinois; granddaughter, Sheri Laska of Norfolk, Nebraska; great-granddaughters, Stephanie and Natasha Laska of Norfolk and two nieces, Betty Anderson of Palmyra, Missouri and Shirley Tomley of Red Wing, Minnesota.She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clarence; sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy and George Stading; grandson, Scott Stading and one niece, Pearlene Kittams.
