Gilles Denis Arsenault, 74 of South Sioux City, Nebraska passed away on Sunday, March 8, 2020 at a local nursing facility. Funeral Services will be at 4:00 p.m. Thursday, March 12, 2020 at Mohr & Becker-Hunt Funeral Home in South Sioux City with Deacon Patricia Roberts officiating. Denis was born on June 17, 1945 in Rimouski, Quebec, Canada. He was educated in Canada before making his way to the United States, ending up in South Sioux City. He met Phyllis Marshall at an event in town, and the two married on July 27, 1990 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Denis was an auto detailer for several businesses throughout his working career. He was an avid classic car fan, enjoyed county music, loved Nebraska Football, and was a NHL Hockey fan. Denis was a collector of science fiction, especially Star Trek.
Denis is survived by his wife Phyllis of South Sioux City; step-son Brian (Marie) Marshall of South Sioux City and their children Ryan and Brianna; brothers-in-law Mike (Sue) Davis of Anthon, Iowa and their daughter Cari, and Bruce (Bridget) Davis of South Sioux City; sisters-in-law Lois (Alan) Boyd of Florida and Joan Gagnon of Sioux City, Iowa; and his beloved K-9 family member Brandon.
Denis was preceded in death by his parents, step-granddaughter Courtney Curl, one brother, and one sister.
