Glenda J. Haynes, 81, of Sioux City, passed away Thursday, March 5, 2020. Abiding by her wishes her body has been cremated and there will be a Celebration of Life at a later date.
Glenda was born the daughter of Glen and Mattie (Smith) Roberts on April 14, 1938 in St. Edwards, Nebraska. She graduated from St. Edwards High School and attended the University of Nebraska. Glenda married Arnold Haynes on November 27, 1963 in Sioux City, Iowa. After their marriage, they moved to Jackson, Nebraska and then later to Sioux City. Arnold died in 2005.
Glenda was a school teacher for many years until she stayed home to raise her children. She later worked for Palmer Candy for several years and then retired after that.
Glenda’s world was her family and her grandchildren. She cherished the time she got to spend with them and loved having them all together. She also enjoyed watching the Minnesota Vikings, NASCAR, and listening to country music.
Glenda is survived by her children, Julie (Gene Jr.) Gross of Sioux City and Jeff Haynes of Grimes; brothers, Jim (Joanne) Roberts of St. Edwards, Nebraska and Jack (Marilyn) Roberts of Overland Park, Kansas; grandchildren, Gene III (Lindsay) Gross , Tyler Gross, and Michaela (Corey) Fravel; and great-grandchildren, Khloee, Zackary, and Jesse.
