Glenda M. Kennedy Schulze

September 18, 1934 — April 24, 2021

Glenda M. Kennedy Schulze, age 86, of Sioux City died April 24, 2021.  She passed away peacefully after a brief hospital stay. A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, April 29, 2021 at First Presbyterian Church in Sioux City. Following the service, the family will be present for a visitation in the church fellowship hall until 6:00 p.m. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Glenda was born in New London, Missouri, on September 18, 1934, to W. Glenn and Lola Freesen Kennedy.  She graduated from Hannibal High (Hannibal, Missouri), and Culver Stockton College (Canton, Missouri), with a bachelor's degree in Education and Art.  In 1956, Glenda married C. William (Bill) Schulze, Jr.

 

Glenda had a long career, starting with her first job as a high school teacher.  She then went on to be the Program Director at the Sioux City YWCA, followed by her role as the Director of the Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) at the A.I.D. Center in Sioux City.  After her retirement, she held a part time role for several years at Western Iowa Tech Community College, where she was an aide with the GED Program.

 

She was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Sioux City since 1972.  During her time there, she served as a deacon and elder, along with many other roles and activities.

 

Survivors include her daughters, Margaret (Duane) Behrens, Sioux City, and Mary (John) Ocker, Kansas City, Kansas, and her much loved grandchildren, Noah and Ethan Behrens and Kate and Lauren Ocker.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, her infant daughter, Martha Anne, and her ex-husband. 

 

Glenda was a long time member of P.E.O., an organization where women celebrate the advancement of women through education and support.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the P.E.O. Foundation.
