Gloria J. Petersen

   Gloria J. Petersen, 71, of Sioux City, IA passed away on Friday, April 30, 2021.

   Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 6, 2021 at Wesley United Methodist Church in Sioux City with Pastor Todd Schlitter officiating.  Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.  The family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday with a prayer service at 7 p.m. at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.

   Gloria Jean, the daughter of Clarence and Goldie (Beazley) Butcher, was born November 21, 1949 in Sioux City.  She grew up in Sioux City and graduated from Leeds High School in 1968.

   On January 25, 1969, Gloria was united in marriage to Gary Allen Petersen at Wesley United Methodist Church in Leeds.  This union was blessed with three daughters and the family made their home in Sioux City.  In 1980, they moved to Norfolk, NE for ten years then returned to Sioux City.  Gloria worked at Brothers Box Company in Sioux City until they closed.

   Gloria enjoyed reading, fishing, playing cards, and going to the casino.  Above all, family was everything to her.  In later years, her life centered around her two grandsons and she cherished spending every moment she could with them.

   Gloria is survived by her husband of 52 years, Gary Petersen of Sioux City; three daughters: Amy (Bill) Crismon of Omaha, NE, Cindy (Dennis) Wilds of Omaha, NE, and Stacy (Travis) Delperdang of Sioux City; two grandsons: Alexander and Hayden Delperdang of Sioux City; one sister, Joyce (Leary) Smith of Sioux City; one sister-in-law, Deanna Butcher of Kimball, MN; Gary’s siblings and their spouses; and several nieces and nephews.

   She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Dennis Butcher.
