Gwen was born October 31, 1941 in Allen, NE, the daughter of Charles and Shirley (Ellis) Taylor. She attended various schools in the Siouxland area. She became a mother at age 19 and began raising her family. On August 8, 1973, she married Herbert Pranschke in Elk Point, SD. Gwen worked for Tastee Inn & Out for several years. She then worked at McKinley Elementary School and then Unity Elementary School in the lunchroom until her retirement.

Gwen loved the colors orange and black which was appropriate since she was born on Halloween; it was a family joke that she was a witch! She enjoyed listening to Elvis Presley and watching Perry Mason and Law & Order, as well as going out to lunch with her sisters and daughters.

Those left to honor her memory are her husband Herb of Sioux City; children Debbie (Dennis) Waddell of Jefferson, SD, David (Stacy Holloway) Huss of Sioux City, James Huss of Sioux City, Matt (Lisa Tweet) Pranschke of Sioux City, Adam Pranschke of Sioux City, Sabrina (Jesse) Barnett of Tonganoxie, KS; brothers and sisters Gayln (Judy) Taylor of Maceo, KY, Ruth (Orville) Morrow of Sioux City, Terry (Cindy Walker) Taylor of Sioux City, Linda Harvey of Sioux City; 13 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, and cousins; and her beloved dog, Ozzie.
