Harriett E. Anderson

Harriett E. Anderson, 72, of Danbury, Iowa, passed away Thursday, November 28, 2019.  A memorial service will be held at 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, December 3, 2019 at Danbury United Methodist Church.  Visitation will be Monday, December 2, 2019 from 5:30 to 7:30 P.M. at the church.  Inurnment will be at Danbury Cemetery.  

Harriett was born on February 8, 1947 in Ortonville, Minnesota to Harry Willett and Alice Oswood.  She graduated high school and went on to attend college at Mankato State.  She was united in marriage to Richard H. Anderson in 1967.  They enjoyed 44 years together until his passing on December 18, 2013.  Harriett was very active in the Danbury United Methodist Church and a dedicated member of Danbury’s “Nuns on the Run.”  She also worked as a cook at the senior centers in Danbury, Mapleton, and Battle Creek.  She started the Danbury Preschool when Jason was of school age so that he would have the same opportunities of attending preschool as those his same age. She found great joy while cooking and gardening while having a calling for aiding and caring for animals in need of “mothering”.  Her greatest accomplishments and joys in life came from being a mom, farm grandma, and great-grandma.

Those left to honor her memory include her children, Patrick Anderson of Council Bluffs, IA, Shannon (Doug) Stewart of Sioux City, IA, and Jason Anderson of Sioux City, IA; 6 granddaughters, Emily Anderson, Ellen Anderson, Emily Stewart, Edie Anderson, Olivia Stewart, Gabby Stewart; great-grandson, Alexander Lopez; and sisters, Jackie (Bernie) Pepka of Montevideo, MN, and Cindy (Bruce) Lawry of Holloway, MN.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brothers, Bill and Carl Oswood.
