Helen K. Bevelhymer, 82, of Ponca, NE passed away on Friday, April 3, 2015 at a local care facility.Per her wishes, cremation has taken place and a private memorial service will be held at the Mohr Funeral Home in Ponca, NE, with burial in Lime Creek Cemetery near Maskell, NE.Helen was born on May 4, 1932 in Wynot, NE, the daughter of Fred P. and Lizzie M. (Newton) Snowe. She married William Clare Bevelhymer on March 30, 1954 in Wynot, NE. William preceded her in death on January 1, 1981 in Sioux City, IA.Following her marriage, the family farmed in the Newcastle and Maskell area until moving to Ponca, when Bill accepted a job as a meat inspector. Helen worked as a cook and later served as the Dietary Supervisor at the Elms Health Care Center in Ponca, and later at Matney's Colonial Manor in South Sioux City, NE.She enjoyed yard work, her flowers, doing crafts of all kinds, and being outdoors.Survivors include her son, Jim Bevelhymer and his fianc, Pam Parker of Ponca, NE; daughter-in-law, Bonnie Bevelhymer of Ponca, NE; three sisters, Dolores Sorenson and her husband Bill of Newcastle, NE, Sally Snowe and Joanne Snowe both of Wynot, NE; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.Helen was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Lizzie Snowe; her husband, William; her daughter and son-in-law, Lanell and Bob Bobier; and a son, Steve Bevelhymer.
